Another great week D-O-N-E!!  We are still making our way through the body systems.  This week we learned about the circulatory system.  In history, we continued our travels in New Zealand.  It's a beautiful island!  We finished our week with a tour of the Sumter Airport.  We were allowed to actually sit inside a corporate jet!

Megan inside the jet.  It is owned by Thompson Industrial.  The kids thought it was great that there was a "potty" on the plane.  I am actually sitting on the "potty" while taking this picture!  It was a regular seat, but doubles as a toilet.

It's hard to believe it's already the middle of September.  This year is flying by!  We kept busy with the usual stuff this week.  We're in New Zealand now.  We watched Island of the Blue Dolphins.  It was an OLD movie.  Made in 1964 and it was only available in VHS.  It was borrowed from the library in Marlboro County.  We had to huddle around Justin's 19 inch tv to watch it because he has the only "contraption" that will play VHS tapes.  BUT we loved it!  It was great!  Justin and Megan worked on clay masterpieces.  They will paint them next week.
Here they are just getting started.  They found the clay rather hard to work with.

Justin decided he needed a little more leverage.  Did I mention that the clay was rather hard?

Megan's masterpiece.  A dog.

Justin's masterpiece.

Next week, we go on our first official field trip with our homeschool group.  We are going on a tour of the Sumter Airport.  No, seriously, we have an airport.  : )

Another week DONE!

We started the respiratory system this week.  Through our study of the human body, we are developing quite an impressive vocabulary.  Some of our favorites are epiglottis and alveoli!  We are still in Australia.  Here is a picture of Megan and Justin working on history.
We do school where ever it is comfortable.  No desks around here!  We are still listening to Island of the Blue Dolphins.   There is an old VHS movie of the book that I reserved at the library.  We are anxiously waiting it's arrival!  Grammar is still all about prepositions and math is all about division.  Today we tried 3 digits divided by 1 digit.

We ended our week with Aboriginal Art, Bach, a trip to the library and Swan Lake.

Week 4

We worked hard this week!  We finished up the digestive system...yeah...and will move on to the respiratory system next week.  We finished lesson 4 in Who is God?  and will start lesson 5 on Tuesday.  Easy Grammar 5 is moving along.  Yes, we are still on prepositions.  Justin and Megan are working on Math-u-see Delta.  They will finish up chapter 18 next week.  This week Justin wrote a story about a lion and a mouse and Megan wrote about her dog, Buddy.  For art, they made a fresco.
We spread spackling on a piece of cardboard, waited for it to dry, and painted a picture.

To add to our study of Australia, we decided to try an Australian recipe.  "Anzac Biscuits" or cookies.  Australians call cookies...biscuits.  It was a simple recipe and they tasted pretty good.

Ok...I know they look kind of ...not so good, but really they weren't that bad.  They have molasses in them which makes them look really brown.  I didn't burn them I promise.  I only cooked them for 10 minutes!
